Third annual Paul M. Fernhoff Memorial Lecture

The third annual Paul M. Fernhoff Memorial Lecture was held Thursday, September 17, 2015. Dr. Philip Farrell’s keynote address is available here entitled “A Miraculous New Era for Cystic Fibrosis: Impact of Molecular Screening and Therapy.” Dr. Farrell, a board certified neonatologist and pediatric pulmonologist, is Emeritus Dean and Professor of Pediatrics and Population Health Sciences at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. For nearly thiry years, he was principal investigator of an NIH-funded comprehensive randomized clinical trial that assessed the benefits and risks of newborn screening for cystic fibrosis. This landmark study set the stage for CF newborn screening to become standard practice in every US state and many countries throughout the world.
